Quantum Polymers Corp. has extended the diameter of stock rod shapes for reinforced PEEK resin.
The Newark, Del., company says it now offers 30 percent carbon and glass fiber-reinforced PEEK rod up to eight inches in diameter. Such standard rod shapes typically were only available up to 4.5 inches in diameter, according to the company.
Reinforced PEEK rod provides chemical resistance and mechanical strength in high-temperature environments like those in oil and gas, chemical processing and semiconductor industries.
Quantum claims its extrusion technology results in porosity-free shapes, critical for uniformity in thick cross sections and for high precision machining. It says its annealing techniques allow machined parts with no residual stress.
Quantum extrudes high-performance plastic shapes in Newark and has overseas partners to help supply global demand.
