Starlinger & Co. GmbH of Vienna, Austria, will show its sustainable packaging concept, called PP*STAR, at Interpack, May 8-14 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The pinch-bottom bag is made from a composite of polypropylene tape fabric and reverse printed oriented polypropylene film. They are lightweight and very durable and tear resistant, company officials said.
Starlinger is pitching the bag to markets such as pet food and fertilizer-bulk goods that need protection against the outside environment, such as moisture or insects..
At Interpack, Starlinger will show the bags holding up to being dropped in free-fall. The sides of the sack — and even the bottom — are fully printable, thanks to the OPP film.
Also at Interpack, Starlinger will highlight a flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC) made of 100 percent fabric from PET containers. Starlinger worked with Sabic Innovative Plastics to develop a process to product PET weaving tapes, with high tensile strength and low residual shrinkage, and high creep modules.
