Elastocon TPE Technologies Inc. has added new grades of thermoplastic elastomers specifically designed for overmolding and coextruding onto polyethylene.
The new grades have Shore A hardness values of 25, 40, 50 and 65. They are part of its 2800 Series of performance TPEs that also include materials suited for overmolding onto polypropylene. The PP grades have Shore A hardness ranging from 10 to 90.
Elastocon of Rochester, Ill., says potential uses of the PE-oriented TPEs include mouthguards, clear straps, medical products, pet toys and overmolding for cap liners and grips in PE consumer packaging.
Elastocon notes the new grades in natural color are compliant with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and UV stable. They resist cold weather, chlorine, most household cleaning products, chemicals and oils.
