Milacron LLC is closing its screw and barrel plant in Mississauga, Ontario, and moving production to its Wear Technology location in McPherson, Kan.
Milacron is closing the former Progress Precision plant in Canada in July, Michael Ellis, Milacron's global director of marketing and communications, said in an email.
Milacron is developing an Aftermarket Screw Center of Excellence in McPherson, he said. The company also makes screws and barrels at its machining plant in Mount Orab, Ohio.
About 18 people now work at the Mississauga plant, Ellis said. They are being interviewed by Milacron's Mold-Masters hot-runner business in nearby Georgetown, Ontario, he said.
Cincinnati-based Milacron bought Progress Precision Inc. in 2001.
