Western Container Corp, the supplier of PET bottles for the Coca-Cola bottling system, has extended its maintenance prevision with Sidel Services for its Houston plant.
The original agreement covered two Sidel Group blow molding machines at the factory over a three-year period ending last year. The deal was renewed and extended to cover a third Sidel blow molder at the plant this past January.
Steve Gonzales, Western Containers' plant production manager in Houston, said the three-year deal helped the company amortize the cost over the entire period. “This made budgeting far easier and, as a result of the agreement with Sidel, there were no sudden, unexpected additions to our overheads,” he said.
Western Container produced 5.8 billion bottles for carbonated soft drinks and water in 2013, at five factories. The Houston plant, its second, opened in 1984.
The Sidel Services maintenance agreements are designed for preventative maintenance, including prompt delivery of spare parts.
