Arnon Plastic Industries Co. Ltd., an affiliate of Al Fozan Group in Saudi Arabia, commissioned a Welex sheet line in January, to meet demand for sheet for packaging and the construction sector.
The company runs three plants in Dammam.
Managing Director Majed Alsulaim said Armon commissioned its first Welex line in 2002, which was lost in a fire that consumed the factory two years later. “We replaced that line in 2005,” he said.
Then second machine, just installed, features tandem 130-millimeter extruders to process PET, polypropylene and high impact polystyrene sheet. Advanced features include V-PET vented single-screw extruders that include high vacuum, moisture evacuation pumps, so PET sheet can be extruded without the need for recrystallizing or pre-drying; Polyside, for two-color striped sheet for clamshell packaging with colored bases and clear lids, fully automatic transfer turret winders with automatic roll removal and a state-of-the-art control system with remote access.
Welex, which is owned by Graham Group in York, Pa. , announced the news before the Saudi Plastics & Petroleum 2014 show in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Welex will exhibit at the trade fair, Feb. 17-20.
