SHANGHAI — Wuhan Huali Environmental Technology Co. Ltd's new research and development center and production base is still in construction phase and is set to open by the end of this year.
Marketing manager Betty Ren said the factory, in construction since 2012, “is all ready, they are still preparing the machines.” The factory will be located near to the current plant in a new industrial park and sits on 9 acres, with 301,000 square feet of building space planned.
The company, which also uses the name EcoPlast, said it is China's largest and the world's second-largest starch-based bioplastics manufacturer.
Ren said in an interview with Plastics News at Chinaplas that this has been a good year for the company.
“We got lots of new customers, including some from India and Indonesia, because of environmental regulations there. A lot of places are instituting plastics controls.”
In China, Ren said, “local provincial regulations are good for our industry business because we are producing environmentally friendly materials.” She cited Jilin province's upcoming plastic bag restriction that allows only biodegradable plastic bag usage beginning from early next year as an example. “I think more places will adopt this kind of regulation,” she said.
