UTB Industry, situated in Waalwijk in the Netherlands, has taken over the Zevenaar, Netherlands-based operations of PET blow molder Constar International Holdings LLC.
Constar molds PET bottles and preforms for the soft drink, dairy, beer and wine markets. Trevose, Pa.-based Constar had filed for Chapter 11 protection from creditors on in December. The company's U.S. operations have since been sold to Plymouth, Mich.-based Plastipak Packaging Inc., and its Leeds, England, plant was sold to British investment firm Sherburn Acquisitions, an acquisition vehicle connected to London-based investment firm Greybull Capital LLP.
The Dutch activities of Constar will resume as part of a new venture, Constar Plastics BV. The company will continue under the current management.
Dick Uittenbogert of UTB Industry said in a news release: “I am pleased that we were able to finalize this deal as there is a lot of potential in the company. Now it's a matter of Constar distinguishing itself from its competitors.”
