MUMBAI, INDIA —Floking Pipes Pvt. Ltd. is set to start production of oriented PVC pipe in Chennai, India, in August.
The plant will use technology from Spanish molecular oriented PVC pipe maker Molecor Tecnologica SL.
“[Oriented] PVC is a new technology in India and it took us almost two years in obtaining all kinds certification to start a manufacturing plant,” said Nilash Modi, director at Floking Pipes.
The Indian company has ambitious growth plans in domestic market. “We are planning to install four lines by the end of 2015, each line has the capacity to manufacture 3,000 metric tonnes of [oriented] PVC pipe annually,” Modi said.
“We have plans to set up three more plants, in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi, with installation of 30 lines in all the four plants in the next five years,” Modi said. With all 30 lines functioning, it plans to have production of 90,000 metric tonnes of oriented PVC pipe in five years.
Oriented PVC can compete with ductile iron pipe.
