Germany's Evonik Industries AG, a specialty chemicals company, has introduced its “Design meets Polymers” initiative which it says provides industrial designers with a number of tools to enable them to search for optimal materials both quickly and easily.
The internet portal — www.design-meets-polymers.com — is part of the initiative allowing users to see the complete portfolio of high-performance polymers from Evonik at one glance. The company states designers can use its DesignBox on the portal which is filled with material samples tailored for them, plus they can get information on upcoming events and workshops.
“Designers are involved in every market around the world and are becoming more and more important as representatives of our product innovation work,” said Patricia Schaack, who is responsible for design for Evonik's High Performance Polymers Business. “Our initiative helps designers find the exact material they need for their project — be it in the consumer market, medical technology or aerospace.”
Evonik states the initiative is another step in its development efforts with industrial designers from around the world in the form of joint projects and workshops.
