Last week I shared some information with readers courtesy of our 2014 ranking of the top 100 North American Injection Molders. Now that we've published our complete ranking with information on an additional 467 companies, let's take another peek behind the data:
This week's smaller firms show an average sales per-company increase of 5.9 percent over the previous fiscal year. More interesting is that of those firms reporting growth, the average increase is 18.7 percent. Looking a little further back than the chart below, 2004 and 2010 saw a dip in average sales per company, however the more recent trend continues to grow.
Although not every North American molder is listed, we've reported on $423.7 billion in North American injection molding sales since 2000, with the top 100 making up a surprising 80 percent of that sum.
We welcomed these companies to the 2014 ranking:
- Bender Products Inc. of Mishawaka, Ind.

Finally, in my post from last week about the top 100 companies, I need to make one change: The Top 10 needs to make room for one more. Cutting in at No. 9 is Lacks Enterprises Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich., with corrected sales of $500 million. With Closure Systems International and Illinois Tool Works Inc. tying for the No. 10 spot — the Top 10 becomes the Top 11.
