Custom manufacturing company Plainfield Precision, based in Plymouth, Mass., has closed its Illinois injection molding facility.
The 96,000-square-foot Plainfield, Ill., location supplied injection molded products for the automotive, industrial, electronics and appliance industries, according to the company's website. Its 30 Arburg injection molding machines, ranging from 28 to 242 tons of clamping force, are listed along with other equipment for a July 16 public auction.
Plainfield lists six facilities on its website, including the Illinois plant. Other facilities are located in Massachusetts, California, Wisconsin, Dominican Republic and Mexico.
The company reported North American injection molding sales of $40 million and total corporate sales of $50 million in 2012, the latest data available, according to Plastics News records.
Company officials were not available for comment.
