Germany-based styrenic materials group, Styrolution, has announced it is expanding its facility in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
The new plant at the facility, which is due to go into production in the fourth quarter of 2014, will produce NAS and Zylar (SMMA). This will give two European production sites for Zylar which is currently made at Styrolution's Schwarzheide facility.
The Frankfurt-based company says it is also launching three new Zylar grades: Zylar 650, Zylar 245 and Zylar 765. Styrolution says the Zylar products are characterized by water clear transparency, high flow-ability, good chemical resistance and customizable toughness.
The development is part of Styrolution's 'Triple Shift' strategy which aims to boost the company's market position in styrenic specialties and ABS Standard, focus on higher growth industries and expand in emerging global markets.
Styrolution reported sales of 5.8 billion euros ($7.7 billion) in 2013, currently operates 17 production sites in 10 countries and employs around 3,200 people.
