Cinpres Gas Injection Ltd. has ceased manufacturing of its gas injection molding systems.
The move by Middlewich, England-based Cinpres was described as an “investment decision” based on “historic facts” by the company's managing director Jon Butler.
According to Butler, the UK company will continue to trade but only in order to license its intellectual property.
An industry source said the shutdown is due to the financial burden inflicted on the company by its two decade long patents battle over gas-assisted molding.
The fate of outstanding orders is unclear.
PRW, a sister publication of Plastics News, has spoken to Butler and is awaiting further comment.
