Austrian injection molding and auxiliary equipment machinery company Wittmann Battenfeld GmbH is already increasing capacity of the new assembly hall for large machines that it opened last year.
The Kottingbrunn, Austria, company is adding 650 square meters of space to the hall, which opened in April 2013.
The addition will include a machining center for clamping plates for large machines. With the new center, Wittmann said it will be possible to manufacture in-house the clamping plates for all large MacroPower machines with up to 1,600 metric tons of clamping force.
In a news release, Wittmann said that this will improve production flow in line with assembly, and shorten lead times.
Construction started in July and will be finished by the end of the year. The company plans to commission the machining center by the end of the first quarter of 2015.
