WILMINGTON, MASS. — Tecomet Inc., a Wilmington company that makes orthopedic implants, has purchased 3D Medical Manufacturing Inc., Riviera Beach, Fla., company that makes implants, specialty instruments and electromechanical assemblies for medical device manufacturers.
Tecomet is owned by Genstar Capital. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
3D specializes in fabrication of specialized materials including titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, cobalt chrome and PEEK for various medical end markets including, orthopedics, minimally invasive surgery, cardiology, dental, spinal and medical imaging. The company has been owned by family founders and Scorpion Capital, a private equity firm.
Founded in 1964, Tecomet specializes in prototyping and engineering capabilities to make highly complex products. In addition to medical, the company also serves the aerospace & defense industry.
