Ewikon Molding Technologies Inc. and Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery will host a Technology Day Sept. 23 at Ewikon's technical center in Rockford, Ill.
The event will feature technical presentations from both companies, as well as two molding demonstrations on the Sumitomo Demag's new SE100EV all-electric molding machine, housed at the center. In the morning, the press, with 112 tons of clamping force, will mold a flanged tubular part using Ewikon's valve gate technology. In the afternoon session, the press will make a tubular medical part using Ewikson's edge gate technology.
Stefan Eimeke, head of research and development for Ewikon Hortunner Systems GmbH in Frankenberg, Germany, will speak about a variety of topics, including understanding mold balancing, balanced manifolds, independent electric-drive valve gate systems, edge gates, the MHL-VG System for parts with surfaces that are difficult to gate, and advancements in hot runner controls.
Sumitomo-Demag officials will cover the Minimum Mold Clamping System, Flow Front Control System, Simple Process Setting System and the SL scree assembly for hot runner usage.
