In an international consulting deal, Chemical Market Resources Inc. has been acquired by TZ Minerals International Pty. Ltd. for an undisclosed price.
The deal between Houston-based CMR and TZMI of Victoria Park, Western Australia, was finalized on Sept. 23. Plastics and chemicals-focused CMR was founded in 1990 by Balaji Singh, who will remain with the firm.
Since 1991, CMR has hosted its annual FlexPo flexible polyolefins conference at various locations around the world. The next FlexPo conference will be held Oct. 22-24 in Shanghai.
TZMI's consulting focus has been on mineral sands, titanium dioxide, titanium and coatings. The 20-year-old firm hosts the annuam TZMI Congress for the titanium and zircon industry. Phillip Murphy of TZMI will serve as acting general manager of CMR.
In a news release, Singh — who worked for Ashland Chemical and Dow Chemical before his consulting career — said that CMR's customers “will benefit from the growth in resources available to deliver marketing research requirements of the changing global markets.”
TZMI CEO Bruce Griffin added that his firm “will gain diversity by gaining customers in a large new industry sector — albeit one with strong linkages to our existing market.”
