DuPont Co. will spend more than $15 million to improve its fluoropolymer product offerings in China.
The Wilmington, Del.-based plastics and chemicals giant will move production of Teflon-brand fluorpolymer finishes from a facility in Shenzhen to its Teflon production site in Changshu, officials said in a Sept. 29 news release. The two sites are almost 1,000 miles apart.
A new state-of-the-art finishes facility will be built in Changshu to serve China and the Asia-Pacific region. Integrating the two sites will improve efficiency, production and regulatory compliance, officials added. The move also will speed up product development cycles, they said.
As part of the project, DuPont also will establish a new R&D lab for Teflon finishes in Shanghai.
