Automotive supplier PRD Inc. is expanding its manufacturing facility in Springville, Ind.
Construction is underway to add 12,000 square feet to the existing 60,000-square-foot plant, company President John Passanisi said. Representing an investment of about $4 million, the expansion will include the purchase of about 10 new injection molding machines in the 200-ton to 610-ton range.
PRD currently operates 51 presses ranging from 20 tons to 390 tons of clamping force, supplying plastic components for automotive, electronics and medical end markets.
The expansion is in response to a growth in demand for LED components for vehicles and municipal lighting, Passanisi said.
“This is a growing business in the LED sector and we have been fortunate to be on the forefront,” he said.
PRD also expects to add 15 new employees to its staff of 149. The company has been offered financial incentives from the county and state.
