Rinco Ultrasonics, a maker of ultrasonic welding equipment, has received two U.S. patents for its PPS0145 ultrasonic film sealing technology for flexible pouch packaging.
Rinco made the announcement at Pack Expo International, Nov. 2-5 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
The patents were granted to Gordon Hull, Rinco's U.S. managing director.
“We believe we've developed a next-generation actuator which shatters the preconceived notion that ultrasonic seals much be unattractive, narrow and straight,” Hull said. “Further, the new technology significantly opens the processing window for the ultrasonic sealing process.”
The patents include an ultra-narrow, high-speed/high force actuator (U.S. patent 8,591,679), and a pedestal-mounted high-force actuator retrofit system (8,689,850). These new systems fit most major brands of inline horizontal or rotary horizontal pouch filling machinery.
Rinco makes its PFA series ultrasonic pouch sealing system at its plant in Danbury, Conn.
