Ecover's Ocean Bottle, made from ocean and other plastic waste and brought to market in conjunction with Logoplaste, has won yet another award for its design.
Having walked off with the Recycled Plastic Product of the Year at this year's Plastics Industry Awards in October, the bottle has also won the Communication Design category in the Red Dot Awards, held in Berlin recently.
In a statement, Ecover said current estimates show that 1 million sea birds and 100,000 sharks, turtles, dolphins and whales die every year from ingesting plastic.
“Fish in the middle depths of the Northern Pacific Ocean are ingesting as much as 24,000 [metric] tons of plastic each year — equivalent to 480 million two-liter plastic bottles, or the weight of 132 blue whales.
“That is why Ecover created the Ocean Plastic Bottle, the first ever bottle made from waste plastic fished out of the ocean, made entirely from recycled plastic,” the company said.
