In a deal between two French firms, Technip SA has acquired the Zimmer-brand polymer technology business from Air Liquide SA for an undisclosed price.
The Zimmer business is based in Frankfurt, Germany. It includes technologies for the processing of polyesters and nylons and employs around 40 researchers and engineers.
In a Dec. 15 news release, officials with Paris-based Technip said that acquiring Zimmer enhances their firm's position as a technology provider to the petrochemical industry. Technip's main business is in providing engineering and construction services to the energy industry.
Air Liquide, also based in Paris, produces nitrogen, hydrogen and other industrial gases for a variety of industries. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.
