MEXICO CITY — Indian mold maker Vasantha Tool Crafts Pvt. Ltd. has appointed its first sales representative in Mexico, 15-year plastics industry professional Eric Brenn.
Although it already has a couple of multinational clients in Mexico, Vasantha introduced itself formally to the local market at November's Plastimagen México 2014 trade show in Mexico City, where it had a booth.
“We were very well received,” Brenn said, adding that he had collected a “substantial number” of business leads at the show. “It was a success for us.”
Vasantha was founded in Hyderabad in the west central state of Andhra Pradesh in 1989 and, according to its website, has designed and manufactured more than 1,500 precision molds.
Brenn said that 60 percent of the molds produced have been for the packaging industry, a sector that Vasantha will also be targeting in Mexico, along with the medical market and some automotive. Molds sold in Mexico will be made in Hyderabad, where Vasantha has two manufacturing sites.
“There's great potential in Mexico,” said Brenn, who worked previously as a sales representative for Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. in Mexico for four years and ran his family's custom injection molding business, Organización Brenn SA de CV, for 11 years before he joined Husky.
Today Brenn's brother, Patric manages Organización Brenn, which was founded by his Swiss-born father 23 years ago. Brenn is an industrial engineer. A dual Swiss/Mexican citizen (his mother is Mexican), he graduated from the Ibero-American University in Mexico City and is a member of the converting machinery and equipment committee of Mexico's national plastics industry association Anipac (Asociación Nacional de Industrias del Plástico AC).
