Heritage Bag Co. has purchased six bag-making machines from Gloucester Engineering Co. for its new headquarters factory in Roanoke, Texas, which also has 16 blown film lines.
Heritage Bag has worked with the machinery maker in Gloucester, Mass., since 1973, and the original film line is still in production.
Each of the new bag machines is equipped with an improved, easier-to-use interface and full servo-electric power.
Heritage also had Gloucester Engineering retrofit some of the older bag machines, to bring them up to date.
“Our new plant is going to be a “Grand Experiment” for us,” said Cray Quinn, vice president of corporate facilities and major projects at Heritage Bag. “We'll use this state-of-the-art facility to test new methods and technologies that will test the limits of what we can do. If these are successful, we'll use it as a model for our five other plants.”
