M-Tek Inc., a subsidiary of Japanese automotive supplier Kasai Kogyo Co. Ltd., will build a new North American corporate headquarters in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The planned 63,800-square-foot, two-level facility, representing an estimated investment of $13.4 million, is expected to be completed in August 2016, county officials announced in December. The city donated 10 acres of land for the project. M-Tek's current headquarters is in Manchester, Tenn.
In a statement, Kasai Kogyo said the relocation will help the company manage its North American operations more effectively.
“We expect to establish a total management system in this region which will include both corporate and R&D functions that will strengthen our corporate competitiveness and allow us to respond quickly to the needs of customers,” the company said.
M-Tek manufactures a variety of automotive interior parts for clients in North America, Mexico and Asia. The new facility is expected to employ 250, including some jobs transferred from M-Tek's existing operations in Tennessee.
