Schreiner MediPharm is tailoring plastic container labels so that the label ingredients don't migrate into the container.
The firm based in Oberschleissheim, Germany, says soft plastic bottles containing sensitive pharmaceuticals are at risk of contamination by migration of label ingredients such as adhesives and inks. Containers for eye drops are one example where contamination must be avoided.
The company, with a U.S. operation in Blauvelt, N.Y., has worked with an independent test laboratory to analyze various label compositions to develop combinations with low migration tendencies for specific applications.
Gene Dul, president of Schreiner MediPharm U.S. says low-migration labels can help streamline approval processes for drug administration agencies.
