Ashland Inc.'s subsidiary in Changzhou, China, reported double-digit sales growth and attributed it to China's increasing focus on environmental protection.
The company said its overall resin sales grew 15 percent year-over-year in 2014, according to a Dec. 25 report from local media newspaper Changzhou Daily. Epoxy vinyl ester resin, which is used to build desulfurization facilities that control air pollution, recorded a 20 percent hike.
The company also reported rising demand resulted from the Chinese government's continued investment in wind power.
In the meantime, as Chinese competitors step up environmental protection measures, Ashland noticed a narrowing gap between its prices and those from domestic competitors.
