The German Association for Plastics Packagings and Films is expressing “cautious confidence” for the first quarter of 2015.
In a survey of its members released Jan. 9, 31 percent of firms predicted increases in sales, compared to only 7 percent in its last quarterly survey.
“In this respect, a positive expectation for 2015 prevails in the German plastic packaging industry, even though in many European countries the economic crisis is far from over,” the association, IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e.V., said in a news release.
However the body has raised fears over the investment rate in Germany, which is now one of the lowest of all industrial countries.
It urged the German government to rethink energy and labor market policy to stimulate growth.
The association has more than 300 members, accounting for the production of more than 4 million metric tons of plastic packaging and films.
