J&M Industries Inc., a packaging supply and protective tarp maker in Louisiana, is undertaking a $4.5 million expansion that will add manufacturing space.
The Ponchatoula-based company said the 120,000-square-foot expansion at the firm's tarp manufacturing facility will add 30 jobs at the company.
The new jobs at J&M have an average salary of $33,700 plus benefits, according to Louisiana Economic Development. The new work also will result in an estimated 23 additional indirect jobs, the state agency said.
“Our company is a testament to what a family-run company can accomplish with the hard work and dedication of our employees,” J&M President Maurice Gaudet said in a statement. “Our quality Louisiana-made products are shipped throughout the United States and into Canada.”
J&M began operations in 1973 and built an 80,000-square-foot site in 1992. Three expansions over time added another 80,000 square feet. J&M also has a distribution center in Rayne, La., the state said.
“The commitment to expand in Louisiana by J&M Industries is a testament to our strong business climate and the highly skilled workforce in our state,” Gov. Bobby Jindal said in a statement.
