Kiefel GmbH will show its new Speedformer KMD 90 thermoforming machine making PET trays at NPE 2015, in Booth 4763.
The pressure former touts fast cycle times and large forming areas, for making plastic packaging.
When the Speedformer was first shown in North America, about 70 people attended a Kiefel Technology Days event in Livonia, Mich., in September. And the German machinery manufacturer has sold the first KMD 90 at a customer's U.S. factory, which is not identified. U.S. customers since have ordered two other machines, and other projects are in the talking stage.
Features of the KMD 90 include high-output ceramic heaters, a servo-driven forming station with an available servo third-motion plug drive. The machine has 44 tons of clamping pressure, so the forming station can deliver up to 75 pounds per square inch of forming pressure.
Tool loading is done by a unique tool elevator located between the forming and cutting station.
A servo-driven down stacker places finished packaging on a conveyor belt.
Kiefel is based in Freilassing, Germany. It is represented in the United States by Brueckner Group USA Inc. in Portsmouth, N.H.
