PolyOne Corp. is writing four color stories for 2016.
The Avon Lake, Ohio-based materials firm recently unveiled InVisiO Color Inspiration 2016, which is described as a collection of four influential and emerging colors. The colors “draw upon global trends and expertise in color research (and) have been developed for brands and designers to inspire future creative decision-making,” officials said in a Jan. 6 news release.
Color Inspiration 2016 includes:
• Power Play — a blend of bold saturated colors in which the color pink “is reclaimed as a symbol of strength for both men and women.”
• Basic Instinct — which place emphasis on “the constant and accelerating pace of change on our planet” and which is inspired by “unique survival characteristics such as bioluminescence.”
• Brain Reign — this line “embraces a palette of cerebral hues,” such as electric blue, vibrant orange (which “encourages positive consumer behavior”) and “super-charged highlighter yellow … softened with transparency.”
• Divergent Desires — a series of colors that “explores the convergence of technology and nature in unexpected and often ironic ways.” These colors “are expressed with multidimensional finishes that showcase polymer creativity with an elemental edge.”
Global color and additives marketing director Fernando Sanchez added that the four palettes “help stimulate the creative minds of designers to incorporate up-and-coming color trends into their designs.”
PolyOne's total corporate sales for the first nine months of 2014 grew 4 percent to almost 3 billion, while the firm's profit jumped 26 percent to almost $93 million.
Sales at PolyOne's Global color, Additives & Inks unit grew 1 percent to $660 million in that nine-month period, with its operating income surging 17 percent to $98 million.
PolyOne ranks as North America's largest compounder and concentrate maker and as one of the region's largest resin distributors.
