KraussMaffei Berstorff will show a wide range of extruder products at NPE 2015, at Booth W903.
The Munich, Germany-based company first introduced the C6 controller at K 2013, but NPE marks the American introduction. “Our customers have responded very well, particularly to the possibility of fast and reliable access management through non-contact identification by means of RFID readers,” said Matthias Sieverding, head of extrusion technology for KraussMaffei Berstorff's U.S. operation in Florence, Ky.
Sieverding said the C6 can be integrated easily into a central data acquisition system. “If there is any disruption to production, parameters can be quickly adjusted and corresponding countermeasures can be introduced,” he said.
KM Berstorff also is showing a multi-layer pipe head, the KM-3L RKW 74-250 IPC. The spiral distributor head is a complex and flexible system that can be used for a wide range of applications — such as reinforced pipes with filed layers to cut material costs, or pipes with a durable inner layer, for example, for drinking water with high chlorine levels.
IPC means internal pipe cooling, used in addition to traditional external cooling. That can increase output by up to 60 percent, or reduce the length of the cooling section by up to 40 percent, according to company officials.
KM Berstorff also will show the QuickSwitch system for in-line changes in pipe dimensions, and the KME 60 XS extruder for running special materials, such as thermoplastic elastomers, thermoplastic polyurethane and fiber-reinforced acetal copolymer (POM), for extruding technical profiles.
