Struktol Co. of America has extended its lineup of additives to improve processing and properties of recycled resins and will feature the technology at NPE 2015.
Struktol TR 229 is aimed at polycarbonate, PC/ABS blends and nylons 6 and 66. It combines a compatibilizer with lubricants to help resin to mix well with fillers and to provide mold release. It is suited to recycling and for U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved applications.
The firm's TR 219, developed for nylons 6 and 66, is also effective for thermoplastic polyesters recycling, especially for contaminated streams.
For recycled polypropylene, the Stow, Ohio, company says Struktol RP 11, a lubricant package, reduces viscosity and improves mold release. RP 06 is similar but also features low odor and volatiles preferred in automotive interiors. RP 37 is designed for PP compounds with high levels of polyethylene contamination.
