The Mexican capital's government plans to place 6,096 rotational molded public garbage bins in streets, parks and squares in the coming months.
The bins will be placed in all of the city's 16 boroughs (known as delegaciones) by the end of March, city Mayor Miguel Ángel Mancera Espinosa told reporters Jan. 26.
His government has not revealed the size of the investment or the name of the bins' supplier. News reports, however, put the investment at about $3 million. According to the city authorities, the federal government is funding the initiative.
