Battenfeld-Cincinnati USA — formerly American Maplan Corp. — will debut new sixes of its twinEX and solEX extruders at NPE 2015 in Orlando, Fla., in Booth W1810.
The twinEX is a parallel twin screw extruder. The new one — the 148-28 — is the industry's highest-output large-diameter extruder, according to the company in McPherson, Kan. It was designed to meet the demand for large-diameter PVC pipe and high-output profile extrusion. The extruder also is suited for making foamed PVC sheet. The unit also has a Z design gearbox, with the main motor located in the back for easy maintenance.
Each machine has screws tailored for the customer's specific application and material.
The solEX is a single-screw extruder for running polyolefins at high outputs with low melt temperature and a homogenous melt. The new size, SolEX 150, is suited for the growing market for large-diameter, heavy-wall polyolefin pipe. Energy efficiency comes from a continuous speed control and a bimetallic, air-cooled barrel with a high conveying capacity feed section.
The Vienna, Austria-based parent company, Battenfeld-Cincinnati has installed more than one hundred extrusion lines for large-diameter polyolefin and PVC pipe so far — as large as 8 feet in diameter.
The company shows the process on YouTube.
