Nova Chemicals Corp. says its new high density polyethylene film resin has 50 percent better moisture and oxygen barrier properties over conventional technology.
Surpass HPs667-AB is suited to cast film, extrusion coating, extrusion lamination and some barrier molding applications, according to the Calgary, Alberta-based company. It features high stiffness and can allow downgauging of layers and laminations. Its use can improve sustainability and food shelf life.
The new grade is an extension of Nova's 167-AB high barrier blown film resin. The new material's properties are due to innovative molecular architecture. Nova also runs an office in Moon Twp, Pa.
