Packaging giant RPC Group plc has continued its investment and growth in the PET sector through the acquisition of Etten-Leur, the Netherlands-based PET Power BV.
The purchase brings together two of the principal players in the European packaging market.
PET Power makes plastics packaging for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and foodstuffs industries. The PET blow molding specialist was established in 1995, employs more than 200 and has sales offices in 19 countries.
In January, RPC said its adjusted operating profit for the third quarter were “significantly ahead” of the previous year, boosted by organic growth and acquisitions.
In a trading update the Essex, England-headquartered group said the impact of its ‘Fitter for the Future' program had also added to the operating profit numbers.
Sales in the third quarter rose compared to the same period last year due to the contribution from acquisitions and what RPC called “slightly higher underlying activity levels.”
RPC has 55 operations in 19 countries, including U.S. plants in Morgantown, Pa., and Winchester, Va. The company also has a pending deal to buy Promens Group AS, a Kopavogur, Iceland-based company with 41 manufacturing plants in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa.
