Resin distribution leader M. Holland Co. has hired industry veteran Dwight Morgan as its vice president of corporate development.
Morgan joined Northbrook, Ill.-based M. Holland on Jan. 23. He will be responsible for the firm's strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions and business development.
Morgan has almost 30 years of industry experience, starting with Cleveland-based M.A. Hanna Co. in 1987 as that firm was transitioning from mining into plastics and rubber. He held numerous management roles with Hanna before forming his own color concentrates firm — Accel Color Corp. — in 1998, two years before Hanna merged with Geon Co. to form compounding leader PolyOne Corp.
Starting with a site in Avon, Ohio, Accel grew to include four plants with annual sales of $20 million before being sold to Techmer PM in 2008. Morgan remained with Techmer until 2013, when he joined thermoset compounder Composites Group in Highland Heights, Ohio, as vice president of sales and marketing. Citadel Plastics bought Composites Group in late 2014.
M. Holland ranks as North America's fourth-largest resin distributor. The firm made the first acquisition in its 60-plus-year history in late 2012 when it bought Christler Chemical & Plastics Inc. of Wilsonville, Ore.
M. Holland President and CEO Ed Holland has said the firm is interested in further growth, including through acquisitions.
