Guido Ghisolfi — a top executive with global PET resin leader Mossi & Ghisolfi Group — has died from an apparent suicide.
Ghisolfi, 58, was found in a car near his home in Tortona, Italy, according to media reports. A March 4 news release from Tortona-based M&G said that Ghisolfi was suffering from severe depression.
“The family and management wish to express their immense and deep regret,” officials said in the release. “Guido Ghisolfi was a rare Italian entrepreneur with great skills, perseverance and intuition. He was able — together with his father Vittorio and his brother Marco — to lead the group to become a global organization.”
Ghisolfi had served as M&G's vice president and managing director. He was also CEO of its Beta Renewables subsidiary. The firm is one of North America's largest producers of PET bottle resin and is planning a massive new PET site in Corpus Christi, Texas.
