Additives makers including Milliken & Co. are coming to NPE 2015 with a wide selection of specialty materials.
Spartanburg, S.C.-based Milliken (Booth S12001) will focus on advancements in additives used with polypropylene resin, including its Millad NX 8000 clarifying agent, which can provide glass-like clarity and bright appearance. Officials said the material is helping PP replace PET and polystyrene in thermoformed packaging.
Milliken also will be highlighting its Hyperform HPN 210 M nucleating agent for injection molded high density polyethylene in material handling applications. New technology allows the material to offer a unique crystalline orientation that allows for higher productivity, increased stiffness, reduced warpage and a higher heat deflection temperature compared to traditional HDPE.
NPE 2015's roster of additives makers will include:
3V Inc. (Booth S15103): Materials firm in Georgetown, S.C., will make available its line of additives including UV stabilizers, antioxidants, optical brighteners and flame retardants.
Addivant (Booth S28157): Additives maker in Danbury, Conn., at NPE 2015 will globally launch Weston 705, a nonylphenol-free liquid antioxidant. The material in late 2014 received final Food & Drug Administration and global food application approval. Weston 705 can be used with polyolefins and elastomers and, according to company officials, can provide significant productivity improvements across the value chain. Also at the show, Addivant will focus on its Polybond-brand coupling agents for polyolefins as well as its broad line of specialty antioxidants, including Lowinox, Ultranox, Genox, Naugard and Flexamine. In September, Addivant resumed production of its Trimene Base-brand curing agent for natural and synthetic rubber compounds.
Cimbar Performance Minerals (Booth 17085): Cartersville, Ga.-based materials maker will debut new PerformaFlex talc, which can improve compounding performance. The firm opened a new talc production plant in Houston in 2013 and will add similar plants in China and Pakistan this year. Other products include calcium carbonate, barium sulfate and magnesium hydroxide.
Kenrich Petrochemicals Inc. (Booth S20027): Additives maker in Bayonne, N.J., will introduce activated carbonate blowing agents. The firm also will spotlight its Ken-React brand of titanate, zirconate and aluminate coupling agents.
