Evertis Ibérica SA is starting up a new polyester film extrusion line and adding 10,000 metric tons of annual capacity in the process.
The new capacity is at the company's facility in Portalegre, Portugal.
The move is part of a larger overall growth strategy, the company said, to become the “second largest PET sheet producer in Europe over the next few years.”
The new line in Portugal has continuous optical inspection systems and automatic measurement and adjustment of film thickness, the company said. There is also in-line lamination, in-line slitting and an automatic winder.
Evertis is a global polyester film producer owned by Portuguese investment firm IMG Group, which also owns PET resin maker Selenis.
Evertis also has film plants in Curitiba, Brazil, and Monterrey, Mexico.
