Milacron LLC plans to consolidate manufacturing of Uniloy blow molding equipment in Europe into its new facility in the Czech Republic city of Policka.
Milacron announced April 8 that it started consultations with local unions in Italy about cutting about 27 jobs at its plant in Magenta, Italy. Those positions are primarily in manufacturing. The majority of positions in sales, technical and service operations in Magenta will remain, the company said.
“The proposed reorganization is an important step for Milacron's global business that will impact the company's long-term success and competitiveness in the marketplace,” the company said in a statement.
“By consolidating in Milacron's Policka facility, the company intends to better serve its customers, delivering more efficient manufacture in pursuit of maintaining an industry leading position in the design and manufacture of blow molding machinery systems,” it said.
Cincinnati-based Milacron LLC announced in February it was spending $18 million to build a new manufacturing plant in Policka and add a custom mold base manufacturing operation in Šašovice, Czech Republic.
In its recent filing for an initial public offering, Milacron said it has been expanding production in high-growth, lower cost regions.
