Athena Automation Ltd. displayed four injection presses at NPE 2015 — two at Athena's own booth and two at other the exhibits of tooling suppliers.
Athena is based in Vaughan, Ontario.
At its NPE booth, Athena displayed a stack-mold carrier, an option for an A300 molding machine. Separate rails provide flexibility and allow a wide and stable bearing stance. The mold has full access from both sides. The mold carrier is driven by patented bottom-mounted mechanical linkages. An optional feature: mold water and hydraulic manifold attached to the carrier.
Athena also showed an XForm 300 injection press for PET preforms, with a 72-cavity mold.
At the booth of Cap-Thin Molds Inc. of Mississauga, Ontario, Athena showed an A150 closure molding system, on an injection press with 150 metric tons of clamping force. Cap-Thin Molds built the four-cavity, flip-top closure mold. Two servo motors, controlled by the machine interface, run in-mold unscrewing and closing. A hot runner controller is integrated into the system.
At Accede Mold & Tool Co. Inc.'s booth, Athena showed a rotary table integrated into a moving platen. Mold utilities, such as water, air, hydraulics and power, are delivered via a rotary union. Accede Mold is in Rochester, N.Y.
