Danish medical care products manufacturer Coloplast A/S has doubled the size of the Nyírbátor production plant, one of two units it operates in Hungary.
This month, the Humlebaek, Denmark-based company inaugurated a new 20,000-square-meter production hall at the Northeastern Hungarian site, doubling the local capacity and leading to the creation of more than 400 new jobs.
The official opening in the presence of Hungarian government representatives followed the joint signing of a strategic agreement between Coloplast's vice president Allan Rasmussen and Hungary's national development minister Miklós Seszták.
The company, which has operated in the country for 15 years, also has a second production facility at Tatabanya in Northwestern Hungary. It employs a combined workforce of 2,600 at the two units.
In addition, Coloplast operates a 4,200-square-meter packaging and distribution centre at Tata, Hungary, established in 2010 to allow the firm to concentrate purely on manufacturing at its other plants. At Nyírbátor, Coloplast manufactures a range of items including urology, ostomy and continence care products and wound dressings and skin products. This plant opened in 2007.
