The Society of Plastics Engineers' Thermoforming Division announced a call for entries in its third annual Student Parts Competition. Deadline is June 30.
The competition will be held at the SPE Thermoforming Conference on Aug. 31-Sept. 2 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel and Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta. Awards for winning entries will be presented at the awards dinner on Sept. 1.
Students should submit an actual part or a design project that involves the thermoforming and extrusion processes. They may choose their own material, but the product must be thermoformed.
Judges will evaluate submissions by design innovation, process use, cost analysis and overall creativity. The winning entry gets a trophy, and awards of $1,000 and $50 will go to students who win the first- and second-place prize, respectively.
