PAWCATUCK, CONN. — Davis-Standard LLC veteran Jim Murphy has been named president and CEO of the manufacturer of extrusion and converting equipment, based in Pawcatuck.
Davis-Standard announced the news May 18. Murphy has worked at Davis-Standard for more than 25 years, most recently as president of extrusion systems and vice president of global sales and marketing. Before his promotion to president and CEO, he also was a member of Davis-Standard's office of the president, which was set up to manage daily operations before the new CEO was named.
Murphy was chairman of NPE 2015.
“I am honored by the opportunity to lead Davis-Standard and excited about our future,” Murphy said. “The Davis-Standard family is almost 900 strong and working around the clock to serve customers worldwide.”
Murphy said employees “will continue to work together to build stronger customer relationships, cutting-edge technology and superior service and support.”
The top post has been open since November when Bob Preston left the company to become top executive at GSE Environmental Inc., a maker of geosynthetic liners.
Robert Geckle, a current member of Davis-Standard's board of directors, will support the company's leadership team as chairman of the board.
“Jim Murphy's customer focus, strategic understanding of the markets, and overall experience with this business make him the idea choice to lead Davis-Standard,” Geckle said. “He has excellent rapport with customers, partners and suppliers, and has continually proven himself with value-driven results.”
Davis-Standard has manufacturing and technical facilities in the United States, China, Germany and the United Kingdom. The company employs more than 850 people worldwide.
