Automotive supplier Prism Plastics LLC is investing $3.5 million to expand its Chesterfield, Mich., headquarters and add equipment to its Chesterfield and Harlingen, Texas, facilities, the company announced.
The seven new Toshiba Electric presses — four for Chesterfield and three for Harlingen — range from 85-310 tons of clamping force. The new equipment also includes Yushin 5-axis robots, SRS low RPM screenless grinders and automated packaging systems, a news release indicates.
Prism Plastics specializes in tight-tolerance components, largely automotive safety components. The company reported $30 million in revenue for 2014.
The new equipment is expected to be in place by July, the company said.
