Spring has arrived. Temperatures are heating up. People in the plastics industry are thinking about their coming summer vacations — and the Plastics News Processor of the Year, ‘natch.
The annual competition for Processor of the Year may not be as great as an island vacation. But winning the award, or becoming a finalist, or picking up one of our PN Excellence Awards, is a fantastic way to get some great news out about your company.
And thanks to the Information Age, it's so easy to kick off the process that you really could send in a nomination from your deck chair. (To get details, you do have to read a little more, so lay off the drinks with the little umbrellas in them, OK?)
We're officially kicking off the award by seeking nominations. The Processor of the Year Award honors a North American plastics processor for its performance, corporate responsibility and overall excellence.
You can nominate your own company, a customer or a supplier, but each candidate has to be a plastics processor — a company that forms parts.
The competition is open to any company or operating division, public or private, that have been engaged in plastics processing for at least five years. And again this year, we will present three additional PN Excellence Awards to worthy contestants. Past Processor of the Year winners can get some glory, too, with the Plastics News Sustained Excellence Award.
Deadline for entry is Oct. 21. By that date, we want to receive each company's detailed submission.
Getting started is simple. Just submit an entry form and a short explanation of why you think the company deserves the award. The form is available online at www.plasticsnews.com/poy.
After a company gets nominated, we ask each processor to develop a detailed report. Before you get started, we recommend that you read our list of frequently asked questions, at the award website. Also, you should call award coordinator Bill Bregar, a senior reporter at Plastics News. He can be reached at (330) 203-5991 or email [email protected].
The award, judged by members of Plastics News' editorial staff, recognizes well-rounded companies based on seven criteria: financial performance, quality, customer relations, employee relations, environmental performance, industry/public service and technological innovation.
The winners will be announced at the next Plastics News Executive Forum.
Again this year, the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. is sponsoring the Processor of the Year Award.
