Germany-based Hahn Automation Components GmbH and its linear robots, grip systems, conveyor belts and safety systems business units have merged with Wemo Automation AB of Sweden and will be known under the name Wemo Automation GmbH.
Wemo, based in Reinheim, Germany, and Hahn of Värnamo, Sweden, both build linear robots for the plastics industry and automation applications for injection molding machines.
The Swedish firm already had production in Sweden and India while Hahn's core business is located in Rheinböllen, Germany.
A joint technical centre for the new Wemo Automation GmbH will be set up in Reinheim. The merger will see more intensive activities in the German market and will set the course for further growth, the companies said in a May 25 news release.
The new Wemo Automation Group employs 90 people, building more than 400 robots every year. The entire group expects sales of 20 million euros ($21.9 million) for the 2015 fiscal year.
